As a Psychologist, I am in pursuit of answers to the question: “Why…?”
Transformational Images is a book of what I call “Psychological Prose.” While that is not an official term in the English genre, I use it in the sense that the pieces all contain a message, a concept, a theme, or a construct that is psychological or psycho-social in nature, and they are presented in a somewhat ordinary yet irregular pattern.
Transformational Images is a reflection of the changes, growth, and ultimate emergence that results from life and living. It speaks to the ways in which individuals, families, and communities develop. It addresses the question of how change can occur in the face of birth, death, violence, connectedness, alienation, hopelessness, love, learning, failure, envy, and the search for identity.
Some pieces describe topics which may be considered troublesome to our communities and the manner in which these problems have changed, causing us to rethink them. Transformation. Some pieces depict factors which may bind us together in our common denominators. Some portray our desires to grow together, to live and love and laugh together. Images.
The pieces are unique, in that each one was stimulated by a changing event, was precluded by or represented by a change that is to occur, could have occurred, should have occurred, or actually did take place in some dramatic form.
The Transformations are those that are taking place daily within, between, and around us!
The Images are behavioral or symbolic!
Community changes are presented as growth within, between and amongst family members; development within and amongst students; evolvement within society, amongst its members, and the impact of symbolic interactions.
Family growth is reflected through a series of intricate communal and profound kinship relations. These relations are demonstrated through dynamic communication styles.
On an Individual level, three Transformational themes emerge:
Self and Identity,
Coming of Age,
Embracing Destiny.
Transformational Images provides the reader the impression that each final Transformation symbolized by the full grown adult butterfly, occurs as a completion of the experiences of different roles, at different times, at different spaces, and at different paces!
